Bat reserve "the old town walls of Damme"
Location: Kerkstraat (at
the church), 8340 Damme During the construction of the 17th century town walls around Damme, casemates were built. These were enclosed storage places for ammunition. In one of these casemates (Kazemat Onze-Lievevrouwepoort), a colony of bats has found shelter. This casemate can be found there where the Kerkstraat crosses the town walls (between the bridge over the Zuidervaart and the church). It's a protected area and not open to the public.
