Farm "De Stamper"

Location: Zuiddijk 12, 8340 Damme [gps]
Accessible: yes

At merely two km from the centre of Damme you can find this beautiful historic farm.  In the authentic framework you can taste the atmosphere from grandmother's time.  And "tasting" you can take by the letter because there is a restaurant and a hotel in this farmhouse.

The farm is exceptional because of its roof construction, that is unique in the region.  This peculiar type of roof (mansarde) lies also on the monumental barn.  On the court there are also some secundairy buildings such as an original baking-oven.  Not only the outside but also the interior is stunning and has been maintained with the utmost care by the owner and with respect for the historic value.

The complex dates back to the 17th century, the oldest date in one of the beams is 1759.  But habitation in this area goes back much further in time.
